Dragon Guardian Veryth - Kyrio

Skypiercer. The craggy mountain standing highest above the Fiero mountains. On a ledge near the summit, sits a small shrine, once a place of offerings to the guardian dragons of Fiero. The little shrine is in ruins now, and before it sits a massive boulder. Ice and snow have long obscured the runes etched into its surface, just as they have mostly buried the little offering shrine. Far down in the valley below, Fiero Keep, home of the Duke, sat withered at the foot of the mountain. An eerie orange halo had formed around the keep as the fires of war burned bright. Terrible luck had swept across the once bountiful lands. First a drought, then a rebellion, then a powerful earthquake, then a massive flood, and finally an eternal winter had brought the Duchy to its knees. Undefended vassal territories were auctioned off or sold as money dried up and could no longer support the duchy. And now, worst of all, the new Duke had been accused of treason. Veryth could only watch the chaos through a dream, mind howling in rage that his charge would be wiped out while he so impotently watched. But the crunch of snow is heard nearby. Veryth instinctively knows that it's the Duke, come to plead with the dragons one final time for help. Help that Veryth could not provide from his stone prison. Not without... "Blood..." comes his voice from the rock, a mere whisper on the wind.
